New B&B Offers Unrivalled Views of Hadrian’s Wall
A boutique new B&B is now open for bookings, offering travellers and adventurers a unique and unrivalled view of Hadrian’s Wall and the surrounding countryside.
Layside is gloriously positioned in one of the most beautiful locations in the North of England, providing travellers and explorers with a base from which they can enjoy a vast range of memorable activities. Situated in the heart of Northumberland, guests can enjoy some of the best views of the Tyne Valley and Hadrian’s Wall country, including the Sycamore Gap, which famously featured in the Kevin Costner Movie ‘Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves’ and was voted tree of the year in 2016, and the awe inspiring peaks of Castle Nick in the other direction.
Layside has been developed to offer a high quality accommodation in new build, stand-alone rooms that have their own access and their own terraces. Meticulously designed to a standard akin to that of a boutique hotel rather than a traditional B&B, owners Kevin and Sophie Stephenson have considered all the finer details to offer guests an ambiance of luxurious comfort.
The bespoke built rooms have private access, high quality beds and pillows, luxury bed linen and towels, 100% organic and hypoallergenic toiletries, and fabulous food and beverages.
“We’ve been fortunate to enjoy a lot of travelling, both together and individually, and we have applied our own knowledge and experience to the build and décor of the B&B rooms to create accommodation that we’re both really proud of.” commented Kevin.
Guests can enjoy a host of activities within a close proximity of Layside, including Hadrian’s Wall, Vindolanda and the new National Landscape Discovery Centre (otherwise known as The Sill), as well as fishing, walking and cycling, which can be done independently or part of a guided group.
Kevin and Sophie appreciate the local produce that Northumberland has to offer. Their home cooked food is sourced locally whenever possible and prepared over the Aga in their Layside farmhouse kitchen. For breakfast, a Layside Breakfast Hamper will be delivered to your door, featuring a warmed breakfast muffin with locally reared Cumbrian ham and Northumberland cheese or pinwheel Cumbrian sausage and local free-range egg, freshly baked pastries with jam or Kevin’s homemade Nutella, and a fresh, healthy ‘Superhero Smoothie’! Hot evening meals such as ‘stew for two’ are also available if requested, using seasonal and local produce, served with crusty bread.
Dogs are also welcome at Layside. Four legged guests will be provided with 100% cotton anti-odour dog mat, 100% cotton dog towel, food and water bowls.
