My mother and I had a two night stay at Layside whilst visiting Roman Forts & Hadrian’s Wall and we cannot speak highly enough about the experience.

Layside is an absolutely delightful property with three intimate rooms offering breathtaking views over the rolling scenic hills. The room itself was tastefully decorated and well appointed with everything you’d need - local bath products (lotion / soap), fluffy towels, coffee / tea facilities, & even homemade biscuits upon arrival. They were able to accommodate two twin/single beds for us to get a peaceful night sleep. The room has access to an outdoor back patio with picnic seating perfect for warmer weather and bird spotting...

A stunning place to rest weary legs on our Hadrian's wall walk. Kevin was very welcoming and the room was one with a fantastic view. Lots of nice touches, homemade biscuits with their logo on and binoculars to watch the wildlife.

We had an evening meal , beautifully presented and very tasty. As was breakfast, we loved the super hero smoothie.

Everything has been thought of at this delightful B&B. From the warm welcome, spotlessly clean room, comfortable furnishings and stunning view. What made it even more special was the food. We ordered dinner, as we didn't fancy walking back to the pub. We are so pleased we did! It was delicious, beautifully presented and for the rest of our trip we kept commenting we wanted to go back and eat at Layside as the quality was never replicated. Breakfast was amazing too! We have no hesitation in recommending and will definitely be returning.

Had a fantastic stay. The lodges are stylish and immaculate with stunning views. Kevin and Sophie are excellent, friendly hosts who really looked after us. Breakfast was lovely and we ordered an evening meal each on the second night. The food was so tasty we cancelled our table at a local pub so we could eat here again on the third night!!

Highly recommend - we will be backWe opted to enjoy the delicious home cooked meals which are delivered to the door of our cabin as is the delicious and wholesome breakfasts. The bed is the most comfortable bed we have slept in apart from our own and the rooms and bathrooms are spotlessly clean. Every detail is thought of. We have enjoyed our stay enormously and hope to return soon. Thank you to Sophie and Kevin for a really memorable and restorative holiday.

We had a lovely stay at Layside. The breakfast brought to our room was delicious, loved the pancakes and my husband loved his breakfast bap.

Eating breakfast looking out at the view made it special. We also had a meal and dessert delivered to our room in the evening and it was very tasty. Quite a few choices on there. The bed was very comfy and the room was warm. It was also very clean. The shower worked very well. The owners Kevin and Sophie are very pleasant,helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay there again. Being near all the local places to visit is a bonus.
