LAYSIDE

Welcome to Layside, three self contained luxurious rooms offering a private bed and breakfast experience to travellers wishing to explore magnificent Northumberland.

ESCAPE TO THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE

Sophie and Kevin are seasoned travellers, and they’ve learned from their own experiences of hotels and holiday accommodation to help them create an ambiance of luxurious comfort at Layside. They’ve considered all areas – private access, great views, high quality beds and pillows, luxury bed linen and towels, 100% organic and hypoallergenic toiletries, and fabulous food and beverages.

Enjoy Luxury & Privacy

Our accommodation has been designed with privacy in mind – allowing guests to enjoy the seclusion and tranquility of Layside and the surrounding area. However we will be on site during your stay, to answer any questions you may have or to deliver your freshly cooked meals directly to your door.

The floor to ceiling windows in each room provide the perfect vista from which to enjoy views of the majestic Northumberland landscape. The woodland setting and open fields beyond give the opportunity to spot a mass of local wildlife, along with the resident farm livestock. Enjoy the enormity of the dark skies with no light pollution to hinder your views of the constellations.

Privacy is paramount here, with no prying eyes to disturb your tranquillity. This secluded property allows you to escape from the outside world and enjoy the intimacy of your own private sanctuary.

Home cooked evening meals can be arranged which will be delivered to your door, and a range of drinks are available to either pre-order or order onsite.

The Little Extras

The beds and mattresses have been tested and selected for their comfort and support, to provide the ultimate comfort to weary travellers. The crisp, high quality bed linens and perfect pillows will also ensure a great night’s sleep.

All rooms have an ensuite shower room with beautiful, soft towels and complimentary locally produced toiletries. Sophie has carefully selected toiletries by the Bath House – a unique company located in the heart of Cumbria, England where they make their wonderful fragrances, bathing and bodycare products. Packed with natural goodness, all the toiletries are free from parabens, sulphates, silicones, T.E.A and D.E.A. Their Bamboo range – a subtle but fresh fragrance suitable for all – is supplied by dispenser to ensure minimum impact on environment and minimum wastage.

We are lucky to have a host of wildlife to view from your window with bird feeders situated outside each room. Binoculars as well as a field guide are provided to help you identify the locals – and keep a look out for our regular visitors – the Northumberland hare, roe deer and badgers.

Layside offers a range of beers and ales to buy either individually or as a mixed pack across the range.

Red or white wine and Prosecco are also available for guests to enjoy, along with a range of soft drinks.

Close By is the Stunning Hadrian's Wall

Hadrian’s Wall is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of the best-preserved Roman ruins in the UK. Built around AD 122, it once served as a fortification for Roman Britain. Along the wall, you’ll find various forts, towers, and turrets that give you a window into the ancient past. You can explore Roman baths, barracks, granaries, and temples and even see original carvings and inscriptions.
